"The Wright Brothers created the single greatest cultural force since the invention of writing. The airplane became the first World Wide Web, bringing
people, languages, ideas, and values together."
- Bill Gates, CEO, Microsoft Corporation

There are many clubs and schools located all around Australia bringing recreational pilots together to enjoy a friendly atmosphere discussing different aircraft,
experiences, mentoring students and all having the common interest of flying. There will be a club or school near you where you can join in and belong to the
vast recreational flying community.

About
The primary role of recreational flying clubs and schools is to provide the social and competitive impetus for the
development of recreational and sports aviation and pilots. A secondary, but very important, role is the nurturing and care of inexperienced pilots to
greater levels of recreational aviation.
Many clubs have their own flight school or have a close association with one and usually provide a range of services to members, from hiring of club owned
aircraft for both training and pleasure to advice and assistance in all aspects of flying and owning a recreational and sports aircraft.
Some clubs may specialise in a particular category or type of aircraft whilst others include a wider range of interests including General Aviation aircraft
and pilots. There are also clubs that may also focus on particular interests like constructing aircraft from commercial kits.
Club membership may entail a small annual fee which may even include non-flying family members. Social activities might include regular fly-ins, fly-always
and flying competitions. The hangar barbecue tends to be a regular monthly event at which visitors – and potential members – are always welcome.
